Williams *leads* Ferrari on the tiebreaker. Albon's 5th in Australia -
and for that matter his 7th in China - is better than Ferrari's best
    placing (Leclerc's 8th in Australia).

I did some visiting of old times: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_Grand_Prix_results

    Oh, Wow. New kid,

Hülkenberg first drove a Formula One car in a test for Williams in 2007.
His manager, Willi Weber, had organised the test after failing to
conclude a deal with Renault boss Flavio Briatore. The two-day test was
held at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, and Hülkenberg outpaced
Williams's driver Kazuki Nakajima, and set laptimes 0.4 seconds slower
than Nico Rosberg.[13] Hülkenberg's performance at the test led to the Williams team signing him as a test driver, and he competed in several
test sessions in addition to racing in lower formulae.[13] His test
contract with Williams was extended for 2009, despite in-season tests
being banned from that season.[14] Hülkenberg would also act as the
team's reserve driver, in the event of the regular drivers being unable
    to compete.

    Williams (2010)
On 2 November 2009, Hülkenberg was confirmed to race for Williams in 2010.[15] Hülkenberg's teammate for his first season would be the
experienced driver Rubens Barrichello, who moved from Brawn GP which in
turn was bought out by Mercedes-Benz.

Hülkenberg made his debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix,

Although its a shame to be disqualified, Leclerc should have been
    disqualified for the flex-wing.

I found it really odd that Leclerc's car was weighed with a new front wing. After the accident on
the first lap, with the wing flexing so much I fully expected a meatball flag when they didn't
change the wing during the pitstop.

What do y'all think? I know it wasn't dangerous but the car wasn't meeting the specs vis-a-vis
flexible aero. It was obviously shedding drag at speed while still sitting in it's normal position
and providing downforce for slow corners.

Both disqualified yes, But for different reasons is unusual.

Surprising to me, Hamilton's plank wear,
but he seemed to have been over the curbs less than Leclerc.
    And Leclerc underweight, interesting miscalculation.

Agreed. Not to mention dangerous, potentially (if not actually)

Martin Brundle commented on this at the time, on Sky Sports. Apparently
it's OK under the regs to replace damaged parts before the weigh-in, presumably because the loss wasn't intentional.

Interestingly, the downforce was lost from the front left, which surely
helped this stressed tyre, thus giving Charles an advantage at towards
    the end.

Yeah, that really was not a good day for Ferrari...

Was an interesting race, though, moreso than Australia imo as the weather
made that a bit of a freak show of an event.

I remain optimistic that the Ferrari is a car that will come good, soon,
but I do fear that their general ineptness when it comes to strategy will
    be a problem.

Not a good day for Hamilton...

    "Let Charles past!"
"Only when he's on my gearbox"
"Do it this lap!" (leaving the '...or else...' hanging in the air).

It subsequently came to light that it was Hamilton who first suggested
letting Charles past, and that FOM only broadcast part of the the communications (with Ferrari going so far as to accuse FOM of
intentionally misrepresenting the truth...). When reading the transcript
of the whole thng, it looks a lot more sensible; especially the bits where Lewis says he'll decide when Charles goes past and that he needs to be
close - he clearly means he'll yield at a point when he'll not have to
slow considerably and lose out too much to do so.
