Hello Everyone !
Although i am relatively new to BTC and mainly interested in the
technology, i have the bitcoin core full node running on my desktop PC (currently still syncing and in the year 2020) but my question is about
the Bitcoin Wallet on Android.
I am talking about the app "Bitcoin Wallet" claimed to be by the
original developers
this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet
So i created a wallet in the app, male a long passphrase and also set a
PIN for sending transactions, and stored the file somewhere with the export/save wallet function. It makes a .dat file if i remember correctly.
If i understand (please help or correct me as my research info is
unclear) so if i understand this external file saves all the wallet information INCLUDING the private keys but all i must remember is my passphrase.
If i also understand, i can only import this wallet file on a new
Android device using the same App. i can not import this wallet into my
full node BTC core on the PC.
So far so good but is this really true??
Lets say on my android phone i have received a considerable amount of
mBTC yielding to a few 100 EUR so worthwhile not loosing it.
Can i SIMPLY export/save the file somewhere, go to a new Android device, install the same Bitcoin Wallet app and import this wallet, by then
entering my passphrase? Will new private keys be created?
AND INTERESINGLY --- would then the wallet work on both android devices?
Or did i get something completely wrong?
nice greetings from Vienna, from
