small clarification/correction: 3141 is the IANA assigned port number
for th -> vmodem protocol no matter what software implements the protocol or what OS i -> is used on... the vmodem protocol is a slightly modified form of the telnet -> protocol ;)
Yeah, but I think SIO's VMODEM.EXE listens on that port by default for 8-bit VMODEM-to-VMODEM connections (using ATDT #<address) vs ATDT <address) if memory serves me correctly.
no, IIRC, one can adjust this by editing their services file and setting the necessary port... i remember doing that years ago when i needed/wanted to run on a different port than the default...
